Basketball

Basketball

Basketball originated in December 1891 in Springfield, Massachusetts, when Dr. James Naismith invented the game as an indoor activity to keep his students active during the winter. He hung a peach basket on a gym balcony and used a soccer ball, creating the foundation of the sport.

Basketball is played between two teams of five players who try to score points by shooting the ball through the opponent’s hoop while preventing the other team from doing the same. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.
