Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs, the Open Masters Games Abu Dhabi 2026 have officially concluded with a spectacular Farewell Ceremony — closing what has widely been recognised as the most successful Open Masters Games in history.
Over ten extraordinary days, more than 25,000 athletes from over 140 countries competed across 38 sports, transforming the UAE capital into a global celebration of lifelong sport, unity and active living.

During the Farewell Ceremony, IMGA President Sergii Bubka delivered a powerful address that resonated deeply with athletes and partners alike.
“These Games were never only about medals,” said Bubka. “They were about passion and community. Our athletes showed the world that sport has no expiry date — that strength grows with experience and that staying active is a powerful choice. This is sport for life. This is sport without limits.”

In keeping with tradition, the Games flag was officially handed over to Lake Como, Italy, host of the 2027 Open Masters Games, symbolising continuity and the ever-growing global Masters community.
As the curtain fell on a magnificent artistic finale celebrating “United by Sports, Active for Life,” Abu Dhabi’s edition of the Open Masters Games left behind more than medals and records — it established a new standard for excellence and a powerful foundation for future collaboration.
The legacy has begun.

Reflecting on the delivery of the event, President Sergii Bubka added:
“Here in the United Arab Emirates, we witnessed an incredible level of competition, outstanding organisation, and truly — the best Open Masters Games ever. Abu Dhabi has set a new benchmark for the Masters movement.”
