The International Masters Games Association (IMGA) convened its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 19 November, bringing together member federations and host cities from around the world to review a landmark year and look ahead to new phases of growth and strategic development.

President Sergii Bubka opened the meeting with a comprehensive report, reflecting on what he described as an inspirational and highly productive year for the IMGA. He emphasized the organization’s strengthened global presence, continued expansion of Masters sport participation, and deepening collaboration with host cities and international partners.

A major item on the agenda was the presentation of the IMGA Strategic Framework, designed to guide the organisation’s next chapter of growth. The framework outlines priorities in areas such as event excellence, digital engagement, athlete experience, and sustainable long-term development. Member federations welcomed the roadmap as an important tool to support coordinated progress across the Masters movement.

The AGM also highlighted continued improvements in governance, reinforcing IMGA’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and modernised organisational practices. Member federations voted on a set of minor amendments to the IMGA Constitution, aimed at ensuring clarity, efficiency, and alignment with best governance standards. In addition, the 2024 financial accounts were formally presented and approved, marking another step in IMGA’s commitment to robust financial stewardship.

The meeting featured a detailed presentation on the success of the World Masters Games 2025, held in Taipei in May. The report highlighted strong athlete participation, smooth operational delivery, and the positive legacy already emerging for both the host city and the global Masters community. The Games were celebrated as a milestone achievement and an affirmation of the IMGA’s mission to inspire lifelong participation in sport.

This year’s AGM Vice Presidents Kate Caithness, David Eades, and Treasurer Petra Sörling joined President Bubka at IMGA headquarters along with CEO Jens Holm and IMGA staff members, reinforcing the collaborative leadership guiding the organisation into its next phase.

The meeting closed with expressions of collective confidence and optimism for the years ahead, as the IMGA continues to champion lifelong sport participation and deliver world-class Masters events worldwide.
