Mongolian Radnaa Tseren proved once again that he not only is the fastest 90+ runner on the face of the earth, but also the one that the 80+ runners are unable to catch up. The Men’s 800m final of the World Masters Games 2025 Taipei & New Taipei City took place today, and five athletes from the 80+, 85+, and 90+ completed together with the 91-year-old Tseren winning the gold, his fifth in WMG2025, in 3’43”30.

Tseren won the golds from both outdoor Masters Athletics Games in Sweden last August and indoor Masters Athletics Games (90+) in the US this March in 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, in addition to the triple jump, a total of six gold medals in each tournament. In WMG2025, Tseren won another five gold medals without registering for the triple jump. “The WMG2025 set a maximum number of registrations at five,” said Tseren regrettably.

Tseren scored brilliant results in WMG2025. Speaking of how he is able to achieve the “age-defying” performance on the field even through aging, Tseren proudly answered, “Because I was born in the beautiful country of Mongolia, and I am so grateful for my parents’ love.” Asked for his future goal, Tseren said, “I want to participate in the World Masters Games until I’m 95!”

Another 105-year-old centenarian, Sawang Janpram from Thailand, competes against himself in the 100+ group. Following his wins in the 100m, Javelin, and Discus, he won his fourth gold medal in Shot Put with a score of 4.29 meters. Sawang retired as an elementary school principal and started to be engaged in agriculture. After turning 80, he saw many of his old friends become bedridden due to illness. So, he began to exercise with his daughter, Siripan, who practices track and field, and began participating in the competitions after turning 90. Siripan also won a pair of gold medals in Shot Put and Discus in the 70+ group and a silver medal in Javelin.

Speaking of the secret of longevity, Sawang revealed that he keeps walking daily and runs three to four times per week. As one who sleeps and wakes up early, he said, “When you eat well, sleep well, you will get into a good mood, and to live a regular life, and naturally you will be healthy.” He also encourages the elderly not always to stay home but to go out to exercise. It’s good for your health, and you get to make more friends.”
