The Organising Committee of Abu Dhabi 2026 has officially launched Walk to Mars, a global movement encouraging adults everywhere to get active in the lead-up to the Open Masters Games 2026.

Unveiled at a vibrant launch event in Abu Dhabi, the campaign invites people of all ages and abilities to log their daily steps, collectively “walking” the distance to Mars, 54,6 Million kilometers. The initiative aligns with IMGA’s mission to activate adults to be physically active through sport, movement, and social connection.

“Walk to Mars reflects what IMGA stands for,” said Jens Holm, CEO of the IMGA. “It’s not about competition—it’s about community, health, and joy through movement.”

Participants can join individually or in teams, track their progress through an app, and take part in local and virtual challenges. The campaign promotes accessibility, inclusion, and simple ways for everyone to move more in everyday life.

The Abu Dhabi event featured guided walks, inspiring stories from Masters athletes, and community activities that highlighted the power of sport to connect people.

IMGA is inviting the world to join the mission—to walk, move, and celebrate an active lifestyle together on the journey to Mars and toward the Open Masters Games 2026.

Take a step. Join the mission. Walk to Mars.
